Baby Sprouts

Play Groups for the First Year

Learn.  Play.

Connect.  Grow.

Join us for an immersive functional play experience focused on connection with your baby and building a community of caregivers.

You’ll learn how to engage with your child in the first year of life to build a strong foundation for reaching developmental milestones–all while having fun and using nature and practical household items.

We’ll take a proactive approach by engaging in play that helps develop sensory systems, motor skills, and feeding skills. Each session ends with a group Q&A with a licensed pediatric OT and Mom, to support you throughout any challenges, curiosities, and wins.

FAQs

We empower you to connect with your child and use everyday items and nature to help your child grow. The group focuses on providing a safe space for caregivers to feel heard, connected, and confident throughout their child’s developmental journey. A skilled pediatric OT provides adaptations for activities and child interests throughout the group experience, allowing you to truly have a customized experience that nurtures your child’s growth and caregiver journey. Your experience doesn’t end at the farewell of the session – you’ll get email tips and take home play guides to continue the fun at home.

We get that children can be unpredictable and moments can feel hard as a caregiver. We empower caregivers to meet their child where they are and focus on finding intentional time with your baby to strengthen your bond. We believe that the outdoors provides a unique therapeutic experience for all and we welcome you and your baby at all times. We are happy to provide a helping hand or suggestions to make your experience more enjoyable.

Caregivers will very closely interact, assist, or hold/babywear their child for the duration of the program. We strongly believe that this sense of connectedness will strengthen your bond and allow your child to be more confident in interactions with others in the future, when modeled by you.

Fall Run Park is a nature trail with various terrain (rock, gravel, dirt, grass, walking bridges) and a few moderate hills. A stream follows the trail with areas that are steep hills leading to water. Water is accessible by foot in many areas. It is mostly shaded and typically cooler when entering the trail.

We are an inclusive program so if you have a specific question, please email jamie@functional-roots.com.

Older siblings are welcomed to join and be an assistant to the learning and growth of the baby and caregiver. It is the caregivers responsibility to fully supervise all children present.

Like most enrichment classes, refunds are not offered in the event of an absence. However, you will receive the developmental tips, group highlights and printable play guides to complete activities on your own time.

Session led by a pediatric occupational therapist and Mom, play materials, take home items, weekly email summaries, and printable play guides.

Yes, we work through different weather conditions as it can be a great opportunity to work through natural challenges and provide positive interactions for intentional play outdoors. We may take cover under a tarp or pavilion in the event of heavy rain.  In the event of extreme weather like thunderstorms, flooding, unsafe icy roads, the session will be canceled with notification via text/email one hour prior to the class. One make up day will be reserved on a weekend.
